Four hundred sixty registered nurses at Philadelphia-based St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children voted Feb. 10 to join the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals, according to a CBS Philly report.

The move makes St. Christopher’s the latest Philadelphia metropolitan area hospital where workers have recently voted in favor of unionization. Nurses Hahnemann University Hospital voted Jan. 20 to join PASNAP. Also last month, more than 330 registered nurses at Drexel Hill, Pa. based Delaware County Memorial Hospital voted to join the union.

“Staffing, supplies, equity in the way that even basic things like house scheduling happens. Fairness in the way that nurses and others are treated day to day on the job. These are the kinds of issues that drove the campaigns here,” PASNAP Executive Director Bill Cruice said, according to the report.

Contract talks are slated to begin at all three hospitals next month.
