Healthcare Spending Grows While Broader Economy Contracts

The entire U.S. economy grew 2.7% year over year in the first quarter when adjusted for inflation. But the gross domestic product actually decreased 0.2%, compared with the fourth quarter. The BEA originally established quarterly growth at 0.7%. Healthcare spending increased 1.3% from the fourth quarter of 2014 through the first three months this year.
